Purpose of Life

Mercy from Allah SWT

Surat 'Ibrāhīm (Abrahim), Chapter 14, Verse 34:

14:34

"And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah , you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful." (Quran 14:34)

Life is full of tests

Surat Al-`Ankabūt (The Spider), Chapter 29, Verse 2-3:

"Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars." (Quran 29: 2-3)
"And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah ," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah , they consider the trial of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah . But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of all creatures?
And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites." (Quran 29:10-11)

Surat Al-Mulk (The Sovereignty), Chapter 67, Verse 2:

67:2

"[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -" (Quran 67:2)

Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow), Chapter 2, Verse 155:

2:155

"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient," (Quran 2:155)

"Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed.
And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground." (Quran 18:7-8)

21:35

"Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned." (Quran 21:35)

Every test has its end

"Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity." (Quran 2:286)

Surat Ash-Sharĥ (The Relief), Chapter 94, Verse 5-6:

"For indeed, with hardship [will be] easeIndeed, with hardship [will be] ease."
(Quran 94:5-6)

La Tahzan (Don't be sad)

Surat 'Āli `Imrān (Family of Imran), Chapter 3, Verse 173:

3:173

Those to whom hypocrites said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah , and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." (Quran 3:173)

Allah is near, as our Helper

Surat Az-Zumar (The Troops), Chapter 39, Verse 53:

39:53

"Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (Quran 39:53)

Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow), Chapter 2, Verse 186:

2:186

"And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided." (Quran 2:186)

Surat Qāf (The Letter "Qaf"), Chapter 50, Verse 16:

50:16

"And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein" (Quran 50:16)

Make best decision

The Paradise is surrounded by hardships and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations. (Sahih Muslim 2822)

Reward vs Punishment
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Among the inmates of Hell, a person who had led the most luxurious life in this world will be brought up on the Day of Resurrection and dipped in the Fire and will be asked: 'O son of Adam! Did you ever experience any comfort? Did you happen to get any luxury?' He will reply: 'By Allah, no, my Rubb.' And then one of the people of Jannah who had experienced extreme misery in the life of this world will be dipped in Jannah. Then he will be asked: 'O son of Adam! Did you ever experience any misery? Did you ever encounter difficulty?' He will say: "By Allah, no my Rubb, I neither experienced misery nor passed through hardship". (Muslim & Riyad as-SalihinBook 1, Hadith 462)
